The official Auburn football X account's victory lap following KeAndre Lambert-Smith's April 24 commitment to the Tigers -- a repost of Sammie Coates tossing De'Vante Harris aside during a 45-41 Auburn victory over Texas A&M in 2013, a metaphor for Lambert-Smith's own tossing of the Aggies aside for AU -- is something Gig Em Gazette's Graham Harmon sees as potential bulletin board material for TAMU the 2024 season.

"As it happens, the Aggies and Tigers will meet in the penultimate game of the regular season this upcoming fall," Harmon prefaced before saying, "A&M has won three out of their last four versus the Tigers, but I'm sure this is the type of thing that will be remembered and used as bulletin board material at that point."

It's fair for the Aggies to feel slighted by Lambert-Smith's decision, but Texas A&M still has the No. 2-ranked transfer class under new head coach Mike Elko; who fortified his defense with numerous blue-chip corners and defensive linemen.

When it comes to Lambert-Smith himself, the Tigers may just offer more stability under center, with Payton Thorne looking like a potential riser and Conner Weigman having injury question marks with a foot injury.

Auburn football completes 'Freeze Five' with KeAndre Lambert-Smith

Sure, the original premise of the "Freeze Five" receiving quintet was that all five guys in it were blue-chip Class of 2024 prospects from the state of Alabama.

But things change -- Ryan Williams is in Tuscaloosa and Lambert-Smith is in his stead, joining Cam Coleman, Perry Thompson, Bryce Cain, and Malcolm Simmons as the fifth head of the uber-talented receiving hydra touching down on the Plains this Fall.

A Norfolk, Virginia product, Lambert-Smith could rival Coleman in production during his final season of eligibility. Thorne has no excuses not to make a massive leap in 2024 after an up and down, but mostly down, 2023 season.
