In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, transfer linebacker Dorian Mausi opens up on his decision to choose Auburn football, and the Tigers impress a 5-star QB on his visit

Following the 2023 season, former Duke linebacker Dorian Mausi was one of the first transfers to set up an official visit with the Auburn football program. Shortly after his visit, Mausi became one of the first transfers to commit to the Tigers.

After spending four years with the Blue Devils as a major contributor on the field, Mausi had specific criteria for his next school, and his visit to the Plains was enough to persuade him to play his final year of college ball as a Tiger.

“I came from a school where culture was a big thing and I wanted to continue my career in a place where that was important,” the transfer from Duke said, per Auburn Athletics. “I heard stories about what it was like here and when I visited with Coach (Hugh) Freeze, he told me that he wanted me to help bring up the young guys – to be in a position to teach those around me where I’m becoming a better player because of those leadership opportunities. That was what really persuaded me, and I loved that.”

Tigers impress a 5-star QB on his visit

Earlier this week, the Auburn football program hosted 5-star quarterback Ryder Lyons from Folsom, California. Ranked as the #3 quarterback in the recruiting class of 2026 and the #2 prospect out of his homestate, the Plains was Lyons' last stop on his trip to the Southeast. He also visited Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Alabama.

Lyons got to meet with the Auburn football coaching staff on his visit, and it was made clear to him that he is a priority in the class of 2026.

"I'm big on relationships and these coaches showed me that I'm definitely high on their list, which means a lot," Lyons said, per Auburn Rivals. "You want to go somewhere where you're believed in, so that was a thing I liked. I really liked the culture, you could just tell there's something different about here, which is awesome."

Though the QB has not named a top group of schools or set a commitment date, he told Auburn Rivals that the Tigers made a big impression on him, and that Auburn is definitely a top school at the moment.
