In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, a 5-star edge has confirmed he will attend Auburn football's Big Cat Weekend and two Auburn baseball players were selected in the MLB Draft

Big Cat Weekend is about 10 days away, and the Auburn football program is gearing up for their biggest recruiting event of the year. The list of attendees continues to grow, and earlier this week another 5-star confirmed he will attend. 2026 edge rusher Anthony Jones will make his way to the Plains at the end of the month.

It will be Jones' sixth visit to the Plains, and his fourth visit since January of this year. From Mobile, Alabama, he is ranked as the #1 edge in the recruiting class of 2026 and the #1 recruit out of the state of Alabama.

At the moment, Jones' top schools are Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, and Auburn football, but he does not plan to make a final decision until next year ahead of his senior season. He is scheduled to visit Tuscaloosa after Big Cat Weekend.

Two Auburn baseball players, pitchers Chase Allsup and Tanner Bauman, were selected Monday night in the 2024 MLB Draft

Allsup was the 127th overall pick in the fourth round of the draft, selected by the Baltimore Orioles. Bauman was the 271st overall pick in the ninth round, selected by the New York Yankees.

During his career on the Plains, Allsup had 19 starts and 50 game appearances, and in 140 innings pitched he recorded 159 strikeouts. In his two seasons with the Tigers, Bauman was a mainstay in the pitching rotation and logged nine starts and 42 appearances. In 94.1 innings pitched he racked up 89 strikeouts, per Auburn Live.

The MLB Draft ends today with rounds 11-20.
