The Auburn baseball and softball teams both played multiple games this weekend with mixed results.

The Auburn baseball and softball teams both played multiple games this weekend with mixed results

Auburn baseball took on rival Alabama this weekend and won the series 2-1. The first win came Thursday night, led by senior pitcher Tanner Bauman, who struck out a career-high eight batters in six innings. The Tigers overcame the Tide 4-2, and then kept things going in game two on Friday.

Friday's matchup was a high-scoring affair. Auburn nearly run-ruled Alabama, but the Tide came back and the game was 12-10 going into the ninth. Alabama managed one more run, but Auburn won 12-11, clinching the series win with a single run.

Saturday evening saw the Tigers fall 12-5 to Alabama in the final game of the series. Though Auburn baseball led at the beginning of the game, Alabama rallied and scored 11 more runs to seal their victory over the Tigers.

Auburn softball ends season in Tallahassee

The Auburn softball team competed at the Tallahassee Regional this weekend, facing UCF on Friday night in the first game. The Tigers scored six runs in the first three innings and took a strong lead, but UCF racked up six runs in the sixth inning and went on to beat Auburn 11-6.

Saturday got off to a strong start for the Tigers, who run-ruled Chattanooga in five innings to advance to a second elimination game against UCF. In a wild game that lasted over four hours and 12 innings, senior pitcher Maddie Penta led the Tigers to a 2-1 victory over the Knights.

Sunday's regional final game was the last contest of Auburn softball's season after the Tigers fell to Florida State. The final score was 10-4, with FSU knocking in a three-run home run in the top of the third before adding another seven runs in the sixth.
