In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, the Auburn football team adds a former Akron offensive tackle and another commit to the recruiting class of 2025
Earlier this week, former Akron offensive tackle Ronan Chambers announced on his social media that he was committing to the Auburn football program. He entered the transfer portal in January and spent the past month committed to Tulane, but flipped to the Tigers on Monday after spending the weekend on the Plains for an official visit.
A 2-star prospect in the class of 2020, Chambers signed with the Zips out of high school and spent four seasons at Akron before hitting the portal in January. The fifth transfer pickup this spring for head coach Hugh Freeze and co., Chambers will have one year of eligibility left and is expected to play the role of a rotational lineman similar to what he did at Akron, according to Auburn Live.
Auburn adds 2025 LB commit
Following the commitment of Chambers, 4-star linebacker Tyler Lockhart committed to Auburn football on Monday night over Alabama, Mississippi State, Georgia, LSU and more programs. Ranked as the #6 player out of the state of Mississippi and the #18 linebacker in the recruiting class of 2025, Lockhart had multiple predictions to end up at Mississippi State before his commitment.
From Winona, MS, Lockhart was offered by the Tigers back in February, and took an unofficial visit in March. He will officially visit the Plains on June 14. Auburn Rivals reports that the LB had a massive junior season, recording 100 tackles, 28 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.
Auburn football's recruiting class of 2025 is currently back up to 10 commits, with the addition of Lockhart, with a #10 overall ranking and the #4 spot in the SEC behind LSU, Oklahoma and Alabama.
