In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, head coach Hugh Freeze talks about the Tigers' big recruiting weekend, and a 4-star OT puts the Tigers in his top two

While the Auburn basketball team was securing a championship trophy in Nashville over the weekend, Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze and his team were working to secure a top 2025 recruiting class.

The Tigers hosted over 30 recruits this past weekend for a Saturday day event that included team meetings, spring practice, and food trucks and a DJ in the parking lot of the Woltosz Football Performance Center.

"This whole week has been phenomenal," Freeze said Saturday, per Auburn Rivals. "It’s a lot of work. I met with kids yesterday at my house from 2-9 and then this morning we started early. It has been a great day for recruiting. We have a lot of top guys here and the energy at practice was phenomenal."

4-star OT puts the Tigers in his top two

One of the visitors on campus this weekend was a 4-star offensive tackle from Oklahoma. Broderick Shull made his first trip to the Plains and got to watch an open session of the Tigers' spring practice and sit down with his would-be position coach, offensive line coach Jake Thornton.

Shull was very impressed by the Auburn football program, from his time spent with the team strength coach to the phenomenal facilities on campus. He is already planning a return trip for an official visit.

“At the top is Auburn, Texas Tech. Texas Tech is already scheduled. Auburn is soon to be scheduled,” said Shull, per Auburn Rivals.

Texas A&M, Illinois, Kansas State, and Nebraska are also in the mix for Shull, who is ranked as the #27 OT in the recruiting class of 2025 and the #8 player out of Oklahoma. He plans to get through his official visits this spring and summer and make an official decision by mid-Fall.
