In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, the Auburn football team is still expected to add more players from the transfer portal and four Auburn greats were inducted into the Tiger Trail

Seeing freshman wide receiver Cam Coleman's performance on Saturday was a breath of fresh air for Auburn football fans. For years, the Tigers have struggled to find a go-to pass-catcher, but with all the new talent coming in ahead of the 2024 season, that should change.

However, even with all the promising new players on the roster, head coach Hugh Freeze has maintained that there are still a few key spots the Tigers are looking to fill before this fall.

"We've got a couple spots left on our roster," Freeze said after the spring game, per Auburn Undercover. "If you're going to fill it, let's fill it with D-line and receivers. I think that's where we need to add some more depth. It did seem that they played well today."

Improving the passing game will be a major goal for the Auburn football program in 2024, and with new wide receivers and a revamped offense, it's an attainable goal for the Tigers.

Four Auburn greats inducted into the Tiger Trail

All throughout downtown Auburn, plaques bearing the names of Auburn legends are embedded into the sidewalk. Four more Auburn greats joined the trail this past weekend: former gymnast Caitlin Atkinson, former softball player Kasey Cooper, former basketball coach Cliff Ellis, and former football player Takeo Spikes.

The locations of their plaques are as follows, per AL.com:

  • Caitlin Atkinson — Near J&M Bookstore along South College Street
  • Kasey Cooper — Near Toomer’s Drugs along East Magnolia Avenue
  • Cliff Ellis — Near Halftime Sports Bar along North College Street
  • Takeo Spikes — Near Toomer’s Drugs along East Magnolia Avenue

The four inductees drew their plot locations at random, and soon they will be cemented into the sidewalk downtown.
