Auburn Tigers News: Auburn football lands former Alabama DB, Auburn basketball gets another strong SEC win
In today's edition of Auburn Tigers news, a former Alabama defensive back transfers to the Plains and the Auburn basketball team picks up another win in conference play
The aftermath of former Alabama football head coach Nick Saban's retirement has been glorious for Auburn football. Multiple recruits previously committed to the Tide have walked back their pledges, and players are hitting the transfer portal left and right.
Last week, redshirt sophomore defensive back Antonio Kite hit the portal, and this week he made his way to the Plains for a visit with Auburn football. Kite was ranked as the #11 player in the state of Alabama in the recruiting class of 2022 and was recruited to Alabama by Charles Kelly, who was recently hired on as the Tigers' next defensive coordinator.
Kite visited campus on Wednesday, and announced his commitment to Auburn football the same day. He has three years of eligibility left and is set to begin practice with the team this spring. He recorded no stats in his two years with the Tide, but appeared in multiple games over his two seasons in Tuscaloosa.
Auburn basketball team picks up another conference win
The Auburn basketball team is rolling through conference play, so far, with wins against Arkansas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Vanderbilt. Last night's road trip in Nashville was another resounding success for the Tigers, marking the team's 10th straight win.
Johni Broome and Jaylin Williams led Auburn in scoring with 21 and 15 points, respectively, and Dylan Cardwell led the charge on defense but had a career night on offense with 12 points, making him the Tigers' third highest scorer.
Auburn will return to Neville Arena this weekend to take on the Ole Miss Rebels, a team that started the season on a hot streak but has dropped two SEC games to Tennessee and LSU.
