Auburn Tigers News: Bruce Pearl reacts to Florida defeat, College GameDay returns to the Plains

In today's edition of Auburn Tigers news, head coach Bruce Pearl comments on the brutal loss to the Florida Gators, and ESPN's College GameDay is set to return to the Plains

The Auburn basketball team had not won a game at Florida in nearly 30 years, but fans were hopeful for the weekend's contest. Instead, the Tigers lost in brutal fashion and took their 15th straight loss from the Gators in Gainesville with a final score of 81-65.

Auburn could not get anything going throughout the whole game, and Pearl even said that there were things the Tigers planned for and just were not able to execute in the game. The Tigers continue to struggle with shooting the ball on the road, and struggled defensively, per Auburn Daily.

"They played great, they were really well prepared," Pearl said. "They were more physical. They didn't turn the ball over they took great care of the ball. Defensively, we weren't as effective when we only have one steal."

ESPN's College GameDay is set to return to the Plains

Despite the tough loss, Auburn basketball is still having a great season, and it has attracted the attention of ESPN's College GameDay. For the fourth time in program history, College GameDay will travel to the Plains, this time for the Tigers' matchup with Kentucky on February 17.

College GameDay previously visited Auburn for the Kentucky game in 2020, the Texas A&M game in 2022, and the Alabama game in 2023. They did not travel during the pandemic in 2021.

Analysts Jay Bilas, Jay Williams, Seth Greenberg and Andraya Carter will join host Rece Davis for the one-hour show from 10-11 a.m., and the game between the Tigers and the Wildcats will tip off from Neville Arena at 5 p.m. central time on ESPN.
