In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, Auburn football cornerback Tyler Scott will miss the 2024 season with a torn ACL and Hugh Freeze provides an update on Alex McPherson's health

Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze spoke to the media ahead of an Auburn Alumni event this week, and he provided several updates about members of this year's team.

Freeze confirmed on Tuesday night that redshirt freshman cornerback Tyler Scott will miss the 2024 season after tearing his ACL during summer workouts, per Auburn Undercover. A 4-star recruit out of high school, Scott appeared in only one game last season but was expected to compete for playing time this year.

Following Colton Hood's transfer to Colorado and now Scott's injury, there is less depth in the cornerback room, and the starters will likely be Kayin Lee and Keionte Scott, a pair of returners from last season.

Hugh Freeze provides an update on Alex McPherson's health

Returning kicker Alex McPherson notably did not participate in Auburn football's spring A-Day game this season, and Hugh Freeze confirmed that the sophomore has been struggling with a health issue lately.

According to Auburn Live, McPherson lost a significant amount of weight but lately has been responding well to medicine and is expected to play this season.

“Alex McPherson is battling an issue that, it’s a weird issue and I really don’t want to go into that. He’s battling one. I think he’ll be OK,” Freeze said. “It’s not an injury, he’s battling a health issue that’s taken a while to get diagnosed. It has to do with gastrointestinal, and I think they are on the path to being on the right track.”

McPherson went 13-13 on his field goals last season, was a Lou Groza Award semifinalist, and earned multiple freshman All-American honors in addition to making the SEC All-Freshman team.
