In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News we take a look at draft predictions for Auburn football's trio of NFL-bound DBs and potential seeding for Auburn basketball in the SEC Tournament
Former Auburn football defensive backs Jaylin Simpson, DJ James, and Nehemiah Pritchett are all hoping to be picked in this year's NFL Draft, and all three of them participated in last week's NFL Combine. According to Auburn Undercover, all three had great performances at the combine and definitely improved their draft stock.
ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller currently puts Simpson in the fourth round, just ahead of James. The pair generated plenty of buzz at the combine, but the main concern with Simpson is his smaller size. As for Pritchett, Miller expects him to go in the fifth round.
Potential seeding for Auburn basketball in the SEC Tournament
With only one game left in the regular season, the Auburn basketball team will soon turn their attention to preparing for the SEC Tournament. The Tigers have struggled in the conference tournament in recent years, exiting after losing the first game in 2022 to Texas A&M and in 2023 to Arkansas.
Tenessee won the conference title after beating South Carolina earlier this week, leaving the Gamecocks, Kentucky, Alabama, and Auburn all tied with a 12-5 SEC record. There are several seeding options for the Tigers. They could earn the #2 seed if they beat Georgia this weekend and both Alabama and Kentucky lose to Arkansas and Tennessee, respectively.
If the Tigers beat Georgia but either Kentucky or Alabama win their game, Auburn will be slotted as the #3 seed. There are several scenarios in which the Tigers come in at the #4 seed: Auburn, Alabama, and Kentucky all win, OR Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina, and Florida all lose this weekend. If Auburn loses this weekend, the Tigers could potentially be seeded as low as #6.
