Bruce Pearl sends message on Auburn basketball urgency ahead of postseason
Auburn basketball head coach Bruce Pearl talks about what his team must do to continue having success through the end of the regular season and the postseason
There are only two games left in the regular season for the Auburn basketball team, and things have reached a critical point with the postseason looming ahead. The Tigers got a big win over Mississippi State on their home turf, but will face a challenge in taking on Missouri on the road.
Though the Missouri Tigers have yet to win a game in conference play, head coach Bruce Pearl noted that they play every team tough and do not give up easily. With the SEC tournament just around the corner, Pearl said that now is the time for the Tigers to be playing their best basketball.
“There’s so much to play for coming down the stretch,” said AU coach Bruce Pearl, per Auburn Rivals. “We just have to continue to win. There’s an awful lot to play for from a standpoint of seeding, both in the SEC Tournament as well as the NCAA Tournament. And the ability to advance in tournament play in March. So we’re trying to be at our best right now.”
Earlier this week, ESPN's Joe Lunardi released his latest bracketology update, slotting Auburn basketball at a 5 seed with their first matchup against McNeese state in Spokane. Auburn Undercover's Nathan King gathered the latest seeding predictions from various networks as seen below:
- CBS: 4-seed vs. Louisiana Tech (Salt Lake City)
- ESPN: 5-seed vs. McNeese State (Spokane)
- USA TODAY: 5-seed vs. Richmond (Pittsburgh)
- Blogging the Bracket: 5-seed vs. Richmond (Spokane)
- Busting Brackets: 5-seed vs. Grand Canyon
There is still time for the Tigers to earn a higher seed, especially with Quad 1 win opportunities in the SEC Tournament. Auburn basketball returns to action tonight from Columbia, Missouri, and the 8:00 p.m. tipoff will be live on the SEC Network.
