Auburn Tigers News: Hollis Davidson re-commits, Auburn football lands in top 8 for 2025 RB
In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, a former commit rejoins Auburn football's class of 2025 and a running back prospect includes the Tigers in his top eight schools
The Auburn football program witnessed a different kind of fireworks on the Fourth of July this year when 3-star tight end Hollis Davidson made his commitment announcement.
The Peachtree City, Georiga, native originally committed to the Tigers back in February, and then made the decision to reopen his recruitment in early May. Though there was a big push from Florida State near the end of his recruitment, Davidson ultimately decided to rejoin head coach Hugh Freeze and Auburn football.
"I'm excited to be back," Davidson told Auburn Undercover. "Really first I just want to thank Auburn and everybody — the whole Auburn family — for being consistent throughout my decommitment and understanding everything and understanding where I was coming from and trusting my process. That's a big thing that led me back to Auburn. After taking my visits, seeing everything, me and my family we sat down and had long, hour talks each day and we really feel like Auburn is home for me. It's the best fit. It's where I can grow as a man, grow as a player, everything."
2025 running back puts Auburn football in top eight
Earlier this week, 3-star running back Shekai Mills-Knight narrowed down his recruitment to his top eight programs, and Auburn football made the cut. From Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mills-Knight attends Baylor School and is ranked as the #33 RB in the recruiting class of 2025 and the #15 recruit out of Tennessee.
Alongside Auburn, Mills-Knight's top eight schools include Alabama, Michigan, Miami, Missouri, Tennesse, Ohio State, and Ole Miss. He took an official visit to the Plains in early June, and is scheduled to return at the end of July for the Tigers' Big Cat Weekend.
“Auburn is a great college,” Mills-Knight said. “Love the town. Love that Coach Nix is also the OC which means he can put me in position to succeed on the field. They have a great culture. My relationship with everybody there is real strong and they got a great network down there and the running back room is also wide open.”
According to On3 Sports' Steve Wiltfong, Mills-Knight intends to make a final decision in early August after visits to all of his top schools.
