Auburn Tigers News: Hugh Freeze glad to have Wesley McGriff on staff, how to watch Auburn basketball vs. Ole Miss
In today's edition of Auburn Tigers news, Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze opens up on Wesley McGriff's return plus details on Auburn basketball vs. Ole Miss
Earlier this season, it seemed possible that Auburn football could lose one of its most valuable staffers. He spent the first half of the season coaching the Tigers' cornerbacks before switching to an off-field role but remaining on staff.
Then, in early January, McGriff announced he would be taking a position with Mike Elko at Texas A&M. After the departure of Zac Etheridge, the Tigers had another spot to fill and Freeze knew he wanted McGriff to remain on the Plains. He set to work convincing McGriff, who plays a big role in recruiting defensive backs to Auburn, to remain with the Tigers. It worked, and according to Auburn Undercover, Freeze values McGriff on his coaching staff:
“Glad we could talk him into coming back,” Freeze said. “I don’t have to worry about the message from him being different than the message I send. He’s a great recruiter and a great coach, and he really works hard at building a genuine relationship.”
How to watch Auburn basketball vs. Ole Miss
After getting back in the win column in Neville Arena this week following two hard road losses, the Tigers will once again leave the Plains, this time to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. Though Auburn demolished the Rebels when they came to the Plains earlier this season, they'll face a bigger challenge this time seeing as Ole Miss has let to lose at home.
The game is sold out, and it is expected to be a tough environment for Bruce Pearl and his squad to play in later today. With Auburn basketball struggling in away games so far this season, it will be a much bigger challenge than the previous contest.
The Rebels and the Tigers will tip off from The Pavillion in Oxford on the SEC Network at 5:00 p.m.
