In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, the Auburn basketball team picks up a new commit and the Auburn baseball team drops the first game of the series against Kentucky

After a disappointing exit in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, there were roster changes to be expected for the Auburn basketball program. So far, Dylan Cardwell has announced his return for another season while Tre Donaldson , KD Johnson, and Aden Holloway have hit the transfer portal.

But the Tigers recently added a new member to their squad in Ferman transfer guard JP Pegues. He chose the Tigers over South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Florida, and credited the value of Auburn basketball for his decision.

“I chose Auburn because of their conviction and the vivid vision that they had for me,” he said, per On3 Sports. “I also love how they operate in a family oriented environment which was a big priority for me. Lastly Auburn is a winning program and one of the best defenses in the country.”

Auburn baseball team drops the first game of the series against Kentucky

The Auburn baseball team lost their fourth straight home game last night after falling 6-5 to the Kentucky Wildcats in Plainsman Park. Though the Tigers rallied late in the game, they couldn't get the last run to tie things up and keep the battle going.

"Personally, man, it hurts when you go through stretches in this game through all these years and you can't make a difference. I hate that," said AU coach Butch Thompson, per Auburn Undercover. "That's a really good ball club. We could have played a little bit cleaner, but the effort and everything is there.

"I want to make more of a difference for the guys, but I think they've got to walk through this one, I think they're setup and things are there. Somebody has to do a little bit more to make a pitch, get a hit or make a play at game time."

Auburn baseball will look to redeem themselves tonight in the second game of the series with first pitch at 6 p.m.
