Bo Nix is apparently behind fellow Auburn football alum Jarrett Stidham in the Denver Broncos QB competition according to KOA 850 AM & 94.1 FM Colorado's Benjamin Allbright. Nix is reportedly catching up to Stidham with just over a month until the Broncos' season opener.

"It's about the same," Allbright told a fan who asked for a QB report card. "Stidham still hanging on as the top guy as Bo gets closer each day."

"It's not a 'QB competition,'" Allbright had said previously. "Stidham is the placeholder until Nix takes the job. He hasn't yet. There isn't ahead/behind dynamic in play. Just has he taken the job yet."

Nix is the heavy favorite to win the job, and Allbright believes Nix will eventually take the mantle under center. But that Stidham would be the starter if the season starts today is significant given the belief before training camp that the Texas native could be cut.

August 11in Indianapolis is the first live-action head-to-head between the two. That'll be a bellwether to see if Nix's development is moving faster than Stidham's improvement.

Zach Wilson likely to be cut from Broncos after falling so far behind Auburn football alum Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham

The third option in the Broncos' QB competition, Zach Wilson, is fading. With him being so far behind Stidham and Nix, it wouldn't be shocking to see the former No. 2 overall draft pick end up on the free agent heap before the season.

The BYU product's return to the Rocky Mountains didn't lead to the results he would've liked, but there will be more chances in this league, possibly immediately. If not, the UFL would be a nice springboard back if necessary.

Wilson just had too much negative momentum from the start of his career with the New York Jets. As Mark Sanchez proved, some players never recover from Gang Green.
