On3's Phillip Dukes revealed the cause of the viral brawl at Auburn football legend Cam Newton's 7 v 7 event for his C1N organization that took place on February 25: family issues were put on blast in a very public manner.
"Cam and Step were talking (s***) to each other, Step stuck a nerve and Cam grabbed Step," Dukes prefaced before saying, "That’s when TJ jumped in. TSP coached for Cams 7v7 previously. This was NOT a targeted TSP attack on Cam like it’s being made out. This was more like family business that got handled in public."
The incident, though it does make Newton look like a formidable force just as he was at Auburn and with the Carolina Panthers for most of his career, is an unfortunate one. Several former pros chimed in with disappointment towards the kids who felt like trying to make a name for themselves using Newton; at Newton's event no less.

Robert Griffin III tweeted out that he wants to see more from the community as to not see any similar incidents in the future.
"I HATE seeing this," fellow former Heisman Griffin tweeted. "Cam Newton nor anyone should ever be disrespected in this way. How can we rise, do better for our communities and change the narrative when we are attacking each other like this? Turning a 7 on 7 tournament into a brawl and people leave with the wrong impression of an event meant to bring people together for fun and competition. We have to be better than this. We are better than this."
Newton's former teammate Tre Boston, who surely laid some hits on Superman during practice (and vice versa) and had a laugh about it in response to Cam's manhandling of his attackers, found the ordeal to be "sad."
"Cam out here treating grown men like Kids! Lmaooo I’ve seen this before! This sad tho! You fighting a man who out there motivating the kids and giving them opportunities to showcase they talents," Boston prefaced before saying, "I just know they think they 'Standin On Business' too looking stupid! SMH."
More and more details will come out on this event, but Newton's next "4th & 1" podcast figures to be the best source of context for this C1N organization lowlight of an event.
