With the calendar turning to August, and football being played later this month, August 2 was a big Friday in the Yellowhammer State. Alabama's fall camp was marked by stealing the infamous 2021 Auburn football Bo Nix A-Day meme to mark its official theme, while AU's was marked by bold words from Jarquez Hunter about the running back room.

On that first part, BamaOnLine's Clint Lamb went on The Next Round Live and said that the Crimson Tide are laser-focused and having a little bit more fun under Kalen DeBoer than they were having under Nick Saban.

“I’m not saying there wasn’t energy at Nick Saban practices, but I feel like guys are having a little bit more fun," Lamb said. "It’s also laser focused and I think that’s a really good combination…”

Jarquez Hunter on Auburn football RB room: 'I believe we’re one of the top running back rooms in the nation, or the best'

Someone who is also focused and having fun is Auburn's RB1, Hunter, who called the Tigers' RB room one of the top running back rooms in the country; or the best.

“I believe we’re one of the top running back rooms in the nation, or the best, we’re very underrated," Hunter prefaced before saying, "We can do anything anybody else can do…or better.”

Hunter, Jeremiah Cobb, and Damari Alston all complement each other well, and while versatile Brian Battie is recovering from a gun shut wound to his head suffered in May, his three RB room teammates have extra motivation to perform in his honor. Undoubtedly, there will be extra emotion this season for the group.

Some may point to Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins as the nation's top RB platoon, but that needs to be earned on the field.

There's no reason to think Auburn can't contend for the top RB room considering their circumstances.
