Five Auburn Tigers were drafted last weekend, but these undrafted players have signed as free agents in the NFL
Lots of former Auburn football players are hoping to make their debut in the NFL next season. Five of those hopefuls heard their names called in the 2024 NFL Draft. In the fifth round, cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett was the first to go, selected as the #136 overall pick by the Seattle Seahawks, followed by safety Jaylin Simpson, selected as the #164 overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts.
Cornerback DJ James joined Pritchett in Seattle as the #192 overall pick in the sixth round. Round seven saw defensive tackle Justin Rogers chosen #244 overall by the Dallas Cowboys and defensive tackle Marcus Harrison picked #247 overall by the Houston Texans.
According to Auburn Undercover, there are four former Auburn football players still available to NFL teams: wide receivers Shane Hooks and Nick Mardner, linebacker Larry Nixon III, and defensive tackle Lawrence Johnson. Meanwhile, six Tigers have been picked up as free agents or given opportunities to earn a roster spot at a mini-camp.
Offensive linemen Gunner Britton and Avery Jones both inked deals as free agents, with Britton headed to the Buffalo Bills and Jones headed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The following players have received invites to mini camps:
- Safety Zion Puckett — New York Jets
- Defensive end Mosiah Nasili-Kite — San Francisco 49ers
- Offensive lineman Kam Stutts — Baltimore Ravens
- Defensive end Elijah McAllister — New York Giants
The rookie mini camps will last three days and all teams will choose to host their camps between May 3-6 or May 10-13, but specific team dates have yet to be announced.
More Tigers may be given opportunities, but as the week goes on the list is unlikely to change.
