Former Auburn football QB Bo Nix receives positive Broncos camp update
Former Oregon and Auburn football QB Bo Nix received rave reviews from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler for his performance thus far in Denver Broncos rookie camp. Fowler complimented Nix's ability to adjust to an NFL pace.
“He can operate in the pocket with a lot of traffic around him. He showed a hair-quick trigger release out of the pocket and then he’s been athletic and really matured. He showed that with 61 starts in college and how he handles himself in team meetings and on the practice field, inside and outside the huddle," Fowler said (h/t On3). "So he’s made quite the impression so far.”
That's not rookie propaganda from Fowler either. Former Michigan star and Minnesota Vikings draft pick JJ McCarthy didn't get nearly the same praise. McCarthy isn't a factor to start for the Vikings in 2024.
Nix, meanwhile, is an overwhelming favorite to be the Broncos' QB1. After outcompeting Joey Gatewood in 2019 and TJ Finley in 2021 on the Plains and Ty Thompson at Oregon, the Pinson product is well on his way to winning another QB battle in the pros.
Impressively enough, Nix is undefeated in QB battles in his professional career. And we're including his 2021 season at AU and 2022 and 2023 seasons at Oregon in that since he was a paid and contracted NIL athlete.
Bo Nix a great Denver Broncos teammate to Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson
Nix was nothing but supportive to his two Broncos QB counterparts Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson.
“I have great respect for those guys and we’re competing at a very high level, but it’s very respectful competition," Nix said (h/t NBC Sports). "I think we all want each other to succeed."
Nix, if no one else in that room, is set to succeed based on what we're hearing from training camp thus far.
