Jarrett Stidham sounds open to the Denver Broncos trading him
Jarrett Stidham was viscerally disappointed about Bo Nix winning the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback job for the 2024 season, and following the franchise's preseason finale, a 38-12 blowout of the Arizona Cardinals, the Texas native sounded like someone who'd be open to a trade.
"I know I'm a starting quarterback in this league," Stidham said to reporters on August 25 (h/t Denver Sports 104.3 's Andrew Mason). "I have zero doubts about that. And, it just didn't shake out my way. But I know what kind of player I am, kind of person I am."
Predominantly Orange's Javier Ascoli believes a trade is well within the realm of possibility. Ascoli pitched the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Detroit Lions as potential trade destinations for Stidham.
Jarrett Stidham can start for several NFL teams right now
Stidham isn't someone who will inspire Super Bowl predictions, but he is someone who can run an offense and create fireworks with the right weapons in the WR room. He has shown flashes in his career, but hasn't gotten an extended look to run an offense.
Several teams around the league can offer him that chance without a catastrophic injury. Some teams just have few prospects under center and are in no position to turn away a big-armed signal-caller like Stidham.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are one. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields represent a "if you have two QBs, you have no QBs" situation in The Steel City. Sam Darnold is a shaky option for the Minnesota Vikings, and with JJ McCarthy injured, the Twin Cities could be an option sooner than later. The Las Vegas Raiders are a familiar place that a rough Gardner Minshew stretch can have their front offices thinking about Stidham.
We probably haven't seen the last of Stidham just yet. For now, he's a Bronco, but that situation is fluid pending a few developments around the NFL.
