Father's Day was a fairly quiet day for college basketball's offseason. All eyes are on the Men's College World Series right now, while the recruiting dead period in football is about to be upon us after a flurry of commitments.
With that said, there was some action this past weekend. The UCF Knights completed their 2026-27 roster, while Tennessee Volunteers forward Nate Ament was linked to a team in the 2026 NBA draft's lottery.
Here were the hardwood headlines from the SEC on Sunday:
Former Mississippi State target commits to UCF
The Mississippi State Bulldogs were the very first team to offer 3-star Brooklyn product Jahda Swann, who played for Thomas Jefferson High School in East New York before spending his senior season in Virginia at The St. James Performance Academy in the D.C. suburbs. They were not the team to land him, though.
The UCF Knights completed their roster for the 2026-27 season by signing Swann, who joins fellow Class of 2026 signings Montgomery forward Ladarius Givan and Pittsboro (NC) forward Dylan Mann. Swann was a Hofstra Pride commit who decommitted from the CAA program on Long Island to head to the Sunshine State.

Nate Ament linked to the Dallas Mavericks ahead of the 2026 NBA draft
With just days before the 2026 NBA draft, Ament's draft projections are all over the place. Some are saying the former Vol is no longer a lottery pick after injury woes and struggles during the 2025-26 season on Rocky Top. Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer recently connected Ament to the Dallas Mavericks with the No. 9 pick.
Rocky Top Insider's Ric Butler isn't so sure about the latter possibility. Per Butler, "The Mavericks have one of the league’s best young players in former Duke star Cooper Flagg, but are definitely in a different position than they were just a few years ago with Luka Doncic. It’s hard to think that Dallas is going to be competing with the likes of Oklahoma City and San Antonio in the immediate future, so the Mavericks might opt for a player it can develop alongside Flagg. ... It feels like more of a long shot compared to some of the other teams in play, but the NBA Draft can certainly unfold in some unique ways when the teams start picking."
Ament is the kind of player who needs the ball in his hands. His skill set isn't exactly a great fit with Cooper Flagg on the floor unless Flagg would be willing to become more of a facilitator. That's probably not Dallas's direction. Ament certainly isn't forcing any long-term decisions from the franchise on Flagg.
Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor reported that Ament met with the Chicago Bulls, who own the No. 4 and No. 15 picks. O'Connor suspects that those talks with Ament were about the later pick. Most would agree, with a consensus of AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cameron Boozer, and Caleb Wilson making up the top four.
We'll see where the All-SEC Second Team and the SEC All-Freshman Teamer lands on Tuesday night. No. 15 is probably more likely than No. 9, but anything could happen during draft season.
