SEC Football news roundup: LSU keeps testing the NCAA, the SEC owns College GameDay's first three weeks

LSU adds transfer Junior Tuihalamaka amid ongoing NCAA eligibility fights, while ESPN's College GameDay locks in three straight SEC stops to open 2026.

Although coincidental, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the NCAA for the first time in what seemed like forever. Still, Lane Kiffin continues to be one step ahead of the NCAA after ruffling their feathers by trying to bring back Jack Pyburn. That is something that doesn’t seem likely to hold up due to state legislation.

Hence, Notre Dame’s transfer defensive end Junior Tuihalamaka committed to LSU following the temporary restraining order rulings in Louisiana just this week.

Tuihalamaka may not have the stats to wow you like others, but he does play a similar role to what Pyburn would play as a key rotational piece. Both of these guys are around the same size and weight, and both have the ability to lock down the edge of the defensive line. Having those two be able to do virtually the same thing is crucial for this LSU defense to not miss a beat when in rotation.

There's a chance the NCAA says they can’t play and suspends those players who received eligibility, just like with Tennessee and LB Arion Carter. Josh Heupel has already shared his feelings about the suspension, so you could only imagine what Lane Kiffin would say and do.

SEC starts 2026 strong with three straight ‘College GameDay’ visits

ESPN has announced the first three weeks of its college football show, "College GameDay." ESPN has said they are putting on a special edition of College Football Countdown from 10 am to 12 pm that will have Kevin Negandhi hosting along with Greg McElroy, Jesse Palmer, Pete Thamel, and Booger McFarland.

The first three weeks of College GameDay are going to be iconic matchups, starting in Death Valley as Lane Kiffin hosts Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers. Then, things move to Austin, Texas, as the Longhorns host the Ohio State Buckeyes during Week 2 in a rematch after the Buckeyes won at the "Shoe" last year. That was ultimately the reason why Texas was kept out of the CFP. From there, they move back on the Kiffin trail and wind up in Oxford at Ole Miss as they host LSU.

Three marquee matchups for the first three weeks of football. That is a football dream come true. Maybe there can be more SEC games on the schedule, as they could be in Georgia for Week 4 as they host Oklahoma. Then, of course, you have to mention Rocky Top as a favorable Week 5 College GameDay destination. There isn’t an SEC game that I wouldn’t argue from Week 1 all the way up until Week 7, which would be the week that Indiana hosts Ohio State.

Commanding the first six weeks of the College GameDay schedule would be a power move for the SEC that would beat the scattered six games they got last year. Plus. the TV ratings would be through the roof.
