When does March Madness Start? Tipoff date for men’s & women’s tournaments

When does March Madness Start? Tipoff date for men’s & women’s tournaments, NIT

Conference tournaments have finished or are underway around the country, and that means that March Madness is just around the corner.

Selection Sunday will take place on March 16 for both the men's and women's tournaments. The selection show for the men's tournament will begin at 5:00 p.m. central time, and the women's selection show will start afterward at 7:00 p.m.

The men's tournament schedule is as follows:

  • March 16: Selection Sunday
  • March 18-19: First Four
  • March 20-21: First Round
  • March 22-23: Second Round
  • March 27-28: Sweet 16
  • March 29-30: Elite Eight
  • April 5: Final Four
  • April 7: NCAA Men's Tournament Championship game

The men's Final Four and Championship games will take place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The women's tournament schedule is as follows:

  • March 16: Selection Sunday
  • March 19-20: First Four
  • March 21-22: First Round
  • March 23-24: Second Round
  • March 28-29: Sweet 16
  • March 20-31: Elite Eight
  • April 4: Final Four
  • April 6: NCAA Women's Tournament Championship game

The women's Final Four and Championship games will be at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

While Auburn women's basketball did not make the NCAA Tournament this year, the men's basketball team is expected to be the No. 1 overall seed in March Madness. The women's team lost in the first round of the SEC tournament, and head coach Johnnie Harris was subsequently fired.

The men's SEC Tournament will finish ahead of the Selection Sunday show tomorrow night at 5:00 p.m.
