WR Sam Turner confident in his decision to flip to Auburn football after OV
After an official visit to the Plains, wide receiver Sam Turner is confident in his decision to flip from Georgia Tech to Auburn
Back in the summer, 3-star wide receiver Sam Turner made the decision to commit to Georgia Tech. Later that month, Turner got an offer from the Auburn football program, and the Tigers put on a full-court press for the pass catcher.
He unofficially visited the Plains in late summer, but it took a few more months for Turner to feel ready to pull the trigger on a flip. In early October, Turner decommitted from the Yellow Jackets and flipped to Auburn to join the Tigers' recruiting class of 2025.
“Just felt like home,” Turner told On3 after his commitment. “When Coach Davis came today and laid everything out for me it was hard to say no. They could’ve chose anybody in America. I prolonged this process since June. I respect they waited and kept recruiting me and it showed a lot.”
Turner was on the Plains this past weekend for the Tigers' big win over #15 Texas A&M, and the experience confirmed that he made the right choice.
"The whole weekend felt like a movie," Turner said, per Auburn Rivals. "Being on the field, rushing the field, swagging and surfing on top of the bleachers. It’s just an environment you can’t explain, you just had to be there. Once in a lifetime situation, that will go down in Auburn history and I was a part of it. If you look at the video, I’m the first one hopping on the field."
A native of Decatur, Georgia, in the Atlanta area, Turner noted that he may visit Georgia for their upcoming matchup against Georgia Tech, but confirmed that he is locked in with Auburn football and there is no reason for concern.
Turner is one of three receivers currently committed to Auburn in the class of 2025.
