Auburn football: A look at Harsin’s first month of recruiting efforts
“Recruiting never ends.” This is Auburn football HC Bryan Harsin’s philosophy when it comes to the recruiting class of 2021, and he’s been hard at work hiring his staff and working to build the next generation of Auburn Tigers.
Auburn football’s recruiting class is ranked No. 12 in the SEC and No. 48 in the nation. There are currently 11 players who have signed letters of intent, and Harsin has pointed out that it’s a possibility the class of 2021 will not be complete by National Signing Day, Feb. 3.
Harsin also discussed the efforts to make connections and build relationships while making no assumptions about players who committed under the Malzahn coaching staff. Under new director of recruiting Darren Uscher, players have even been re-offered by the Harsin coaching staff.
The creation of a strong coaching staff for Bryan Harsin is just as important to the Auburn football program as his recruiting efforts because those assistants build relationships with prospective recruits as well. Mike Bobo, Will Friend, Derek Mason, and Cadillac Williams all have coaching experience in the SEC, and, more importantly, recruiting experience in the SEC.
Tracy Rocker had SEC and Auburn experience too, but now Coach Harsin has to finish filling out a staff he thought was complete with Rocker’s departure for the NFL.
However, all hope is not lost. Darren Uscher’s timeline is full of retweets dating back as early as January 18th from athletes who have received offers from Auburn University, including Australian prospect Jordan Moko, and the NCAA transfer portal is full of options.
Bryan Harsin–while admitting that almost all aspects of the team need improvements–seems optimistic about the recruiting class of 2021. Although the 2021 Auburn football team isn’t complete, Harsin isn’t slowing down the recruiting process anytime soon, and Tiger fans have much to look forward to.
War Eagle, and good luck to the new era of the Tigers and the fully-loaded Harsinal!
