The Auburn football team may have a chance to create better depth in the WR room after a de-commitment in the Big 12 region. After holding his commitment with the Oklahoma Sooners for nearly a year, Jordan Hudson has officially reopened his recruitment with offers from the likes of Texas, Alabama, and Auburn in hand.

While it may be unfair to say that Bryan Harsin’s wide receiver room is in bad shape, it could certainly look better as the returning group has a combined 23 catches for 311 yards and two touchdowns last season. Of course, the Tigers did just see their top three receivers head to the 2021 NFL Draft, but a little more experience on the roster would be nice.

Harsin and the Auburn football staff are fighting hard for class of 2022 4-star receiver Darrius Clemons, but the depth need would not be completely fulfilled by Clemons alone. This is where newly de-committed Jordan Hudson enters the picture:

A native of Garland, Texas, 4-star receiver Jordan Hudson is ranked as the #14 wide receiver in the recruiting class of 2022 and the No. 23 recruit out of the state of Texas. According to sister FanSided site Hook ‘Em Headlines, the two schools most likely to land Hudson are SMU and Texas.

However, The Athletic reported a month ago that SMU is returning plenty of depth at the wide receiver position with Reggie Roberson Jr. and Texas already has a 4-star receiver commit sitting in their class of 2022. If Hudson wants to head to a school where he could be a star in his position, the Plains is the place to be.

The #12 recruit in the country in the class of 2022, Hudson was committed to OU for so long that he never put out a top schools list, but plenty of major programs have extended offers to the WR. Hudson is followed by Auburn tight ends coach Brad Bedell, so we know he’s on the radar of the current staff.

Although it seems as though Hudson will end up playing football somewhere in the Lone Star State, he would add needed depth to the Tigers’ WR roster and be a great fit on the Plains.
