It’s July 4th, ladies and gentlemen. Today, we as Americans celebrate our freedom and independence. A few days ago on July 1st, the players that make up the Auburn football program–as well as college athletes across the nation–were celebrating their newfound freedom to monetize their name, image, and likeness, and many kicked off the good times with sponsorship deals.
All in the last week, Bo Nix simultaneously became the face of Milo’s and impetus for sewer systems across the state being filled with sweet tea from bitter Bammers, TJ Finley landed an underwear endorsement, and several other players scored endorsements ranging from the Locked On Auburn podcast to YOKE Gaming.
Two players, whose names definitely call for it, unveiled their own personal logos. Smoke Monday and Tank Bigsby were (obviously) the pair.
Although a pork-inspired Brodarious Hamm logo would be good content.
Anyway, their logos–which played off of their names–got rave reviews from fans and analysts:
While some Auburn football fans may think the logos are busy or confusing, most will support the stars set to lead in their respective roles on both sides of the ball in 2021. Bigsby has Heisman hype and Monday is looking like an early front-runner to be the defense’s MVP.
As the post-NIL college football world adjusts to the new rules, Tiger fans should be hopeful that their marketable stars are going to embrace the change and restore the Plains to SEC supremacy.
Now, on behalf of Fly War Eagle, I’d like to wish you all the best in your grilling, pool/beachside sitting, and whatever else you may have planned today.
