Auburn football fans across the country are starting to worry about the 2022 Auburn football recruiting class as we enter another month in the Bryan Harsin era. The Tigers currently rank last (14th) in the SEC and only sit at #79 in the country in the 2022 ranking according to 247Sports. The Tigers hold three verbal commits, each coming before the end of February of this year, which began a 4 month dead period for Auburn football.
There could be a sign of things to come in July and early August as Auburn football received some huge 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for some huge targets that will be committing in the coming weeks. This could signal the end of this dry spell for Auburn football and could mean that Harsin and his staff’s work on the recruiting trail will finally pay off with some commitments.
The first being 3-star linebacker Micah Pollard, who received an Auburn offer earlier this year. It was originally thought that Pollard could be leaning towards Michigan, but now the highly touted LB out of Florida holds three predictions to commit to Auburn later this year. Pollard visited the Plains back on June 18th with his cousin Caden Story, who is another huge Auburn football target and could decide to play with each other at the next level. Overall, Pollard would be a huge commit for the Tigers and could signal a Story commitment shortly after, so this will be a huge one to watch in the coming weeks and months.
Another commitment that will be happening this Wednesday, is Micah Riley-Ducker who is a 3-star tight end out of Nebraska. He received a crystal ball prediction this week and 247Sports reports that it may be a Auburn v. Illinois battle for the 3-star tight end. Riley-Ducker visited the Plains a few weeks ago and had glowing reviews about the staff and the campus at Auburn, which could signal the Tigers being slight favorites. Riley-Ducker has the highest probability to be the next Auburn football commit and Wednesday could be one of the biggest days in the Harsin era thus far.
The defensive line is a major priority and the Tigers received two Crystal Ball predictions for Maxie Baudoin IV, including one from the Director of Recruiting for 247Sports Steve Wiltfong, who had a 97% hit rate on 2022 recruits thus far. Baudoin is a 3-star defensive tackle out of Louisiana and visited the Plains back on June 3rd when the dead period ended. He recently announced that Auburn football is at the top of his list and the Tigers looked to be in a perfect spot for the highly touted DL out of Youngsville. Nick Eason has been gaining momentum on the recruiting trail and Baudoin could be the commitment to break the wall down for many other defensive line commits.
Staying patient is going to be essential for Auburn fans this summer and fall, but the commitments will come soon enough. This new staff has only had one month to fully recruit and they have done an excellent job building relationships and making the Tigers contenders for the top 2022 prospects. The Tigers are getting ready to roar, so stay tuned right here on Fly War Eagle!
