Auburn football: Tigers land commitment from 4-star DL Caden Story

The Auburn Tigers have continued their strong summer of recruiting with their 8th commitment of the 2022 recruiting cycle and their 6th commitment since the beginning of July. Bryan Harsin and this new Auburn football staff have used the momentum of Big Cat Weekend and the end of the dead period to build a strong foundation for this class.

Caden Story announced his commitment to the Tigers on Twitter and becomes the highest rated recruit in the 2022 class for the Tigers.

Story is a 4-star defensive lineman out of Lanett, AL, and ranks as the #222 overall recruit and #30 defensive lineman in the 2022 class. He stands at 6-foot-4 and almost 270 pounds, which gives him the size to play multiple positions on the defensive front. Over his two years at Lanett High School, Story has over 134 tackles, 35 tackles for loss, 26 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.

Clint Brewster from 247Sports had this to say in his scouting report for Story:

"“Story is a long levered defensive lineman with an 80 inch wingspan and a thick and powerful lower half. He has shade versatility to line up in multiple spots along the defensive front and provide interior rush pressure. Very nimble and easy moving for a player with his body type and frame. Gets off the ball with body quickness and also shows a powerful initial push to reset the line of scrimmage. Can turn and chase plays down the field with nice maneuverability and change of direction quickness. Very productive as a pass rusher and run stopper at the high school level. Needs to continue to develop his body, particularly his upper half. Has the frame potential to put on significant weight at the next level.”"

Story has formed a strong bond with new defensive line coach Nick Eason and had this to say about Eason according to 247Sports:

"“I know that he’s been where I’m trying to go. He can teach me things that certain coaches that have just played on the college level or haven’t coached in the NFL can’t teach.”"

Nick Eason has landed one of the biggest defensive line targets for the Tigers and has done an excellent job on the transfer market throughout his time on the Plains. The Auburn football defensive line has an extremely bright future and could be the face of Auburn football once again.

Story’s commitment brings Auburn’s 2022 class up to #59 in the 247Sports rankings, which is a huge improvement from where it started in July. The Tigers are not done yet, so stay tuned in with Fly War Eagle as more commitments come in!
