Yesterday was quite a wild day on the job for some of the media reporting on Auburn football practice. Why? First-year head coach Bryan Harsin distributed Auburn-branded hats to the media at practice, and that was just absolutely unacceptable behavior, apparently.

While some of the folks receiving hats were certain it was a play by Harsin to gain media favor, the rest of them–and Auburn football fans–saw “hat gate” for what it truly was: a nice gesture to thank the media for being there.

Harsin simply tossed a few hats to some people sitting in the sun, and now his integrity is being questioned. Fan responses to Harsin’s “odd behavior” came quickly, and pretty soon the Auburn Twitter community had the whole thing blown way out of proportion in the best way possible, as usual with Auburn Twitter:

The issue got so big that soon, not only were Tiger fans talking, but reporters from various publications and beats gave their opinions on receiving team merch:

The Auburn Twitter community is unbeatable, and fans were quick to stick up for the new head coach. If Bryan Harsin is reading this, toss a hat this way!
