One of Auburn football’s very best student-athlete recruiters, Damari Alston is at it again. After campaigning for various recruits from the 2021 cycle, he’s hinted that another commitment will be announced soon.

So far, the Tigers have only nine players on the roster for the recruiting class of 2022, and their ranking is less than desirable. Currently ranked last in the Southeastern Conference, Auburn football’s class of 2022 is #56 nationally.

They haven’t added a new prospect since the beginning of the month when Lanett, AL native Caden Story committed on August 1. However, there are two officially scheduled commitments coming up from athletes that are very interested in the Tigers.

On August 19, 4-star safety Tre Donaldson and 4-star ATH (wide receiver) Omari Kelly are both scheduled to announce which college they’ll be attending in 2022. Both athletes are big Auburn targets and would be major gets for first-year head coach Bryan Harsin.

Donaldson, hailing from Tallahassee, FL, is a dual-sport athlete and is actually being recruited by Harsin and Bruce Pearl. According to 247Sports, his top schools include Auburn, Florida, Florida State, and Ole Miss. The 247Sports Crystal Ball predicts Donaldson to choose Auburn.

The Tigers currently only have one safety on the 2022 roster, 3-star Caleb Wooden, who is the younger brother of current Auburn defensive end Colby Wooden.

Omari Kelly has been rumored to choose the Plains for a while now, and it’s possible that he could be adding some major talent to the Tigers’ wide receivers room. Alabama, Auburn, and UCF are the top contenders for Kelly, who unofficially visited Alabama and attended Big Cat Weekend on the Plains in addition to officially visiting Gus Malzahn’s program in Orlando.

Whether it’s Donaldson, Kelly, or someone else, Fly War Eagle will be excited to welcome another commit to the recruiting class of 2022.
