Auburn football needs all hands on deck at Jordan-Hare Stadium this coming Saturday when they host a scorching hot #2 Georgia Bulldogs squad in the SEC’s biggest matchup of the weekend.

We already know that former TE Sal Cannella–who had a brief stint with the Miami Dolphins over the summer before being waived in August–will be present on the Plains for the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry game.

Perhaps he may be joined by a former Tiger teammate of his who was just released earlier today, Kerryon Johnson.

Johnson hinted as much on Twitter on Tuesday night when asked if he’d be returning to Auburn for the UGA game:

Johnson was released from the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday night along with former Florida State RB Chris Thompson. Though the Niners are not healthy in the backfield, they clearly felt neither veteran was a fit amid a two-game slide following a 3-0 start.

Perhaps the timing could lead to Johnson being available to make what would be a welcomed appearance for the 2018 second-round NFL Draft pick.

Tiger fans certainly appear to be intrigued by that happening:

Georgia comes into this weekend’s matchup against #18-ranked Auburn football after rolling over their first four opponents of the season.

Sure, UAB and South Carolina were expected casualties against what might be Kirby Smart’s most talented team as HC, but what he was able to do to Arkansas this past weekend was a loud and clear statement to the rest of the country that beating a now-unranked Clemson by a TD might not even register as one of their best three wins before the 2021 season is all said and done.

Any advantage helps, and Johnson’s presence would provide a small spark…and if you get enough of those, you could ignite something big.
