If you’re looking for the top SEC matchup of Week 9, look no further than #18 Auburn football versus #10 Ole Miss. The one-loss Rebs will travel to the Plains this Saturday to take on Tigers, who are 2-1 in conference play.

Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss team was beaten up by the Tennessee Volunteers on the road two weekends ago and followed that up with a big game versus LSU. On the other hand, Bryah Harsin’s Tigers are coming off a restful bye week that ensures the return of key players for the upcoming game.

While the Tigers-Rebs showdown is undoubtedly the top SEC game on this weekend’s lineup, FanSided proclaims that the ranked matchup is one of the top 5 college football games of Week 9, along with #19 SMU at Houston, #20 Penn State at #5 Ohio State, #1 Georgia at Florida, and #6 Michigan at #8 Michigan State:

"A sneaky-good game is going down in the SEC West on Saturday night, as the No. 18 Auburn Tigers host the No. 10 Ole Miss Rebels. Though both teams have conference losses on the season, Auburn controls its own destiny, as the Tigers only SEC loss is to cross-divisional rival Georgia. As for Ole Miss, the Rebels could potentially go 11-1 and have an outside shot at getting to Atlanta."

Both Auburn and Ole Miss are vying for a chance to beat out Alabama for the Atlanta trip to the SEC Championship, and this game matters hugely for the Tigers. Auburn football is looking to give the Rebs their second conference loss.

The SEC West was cracked wide open with Texas A&M’s defeat of the Crimson Tide, and now both teams in the state of Alabama along with Ole Miss are trying to get the chance to go up against Georgia in Atlanta.

While FanSided may have ranked Auburn-Ole Miss as the 4th best game, it will be key in figuring out who will take the SEC crown at the end of the season.
