Though the #10 Ole Miss Rebels put up impressive numbers against Auburn football on Saturday, it wasn’t enough to overcome the voodoo surrounding night games in Jordan-Hare Stadium. After losing to top 10 opponents twice this season, the third time was the charm for first-year head coach Bryan Harsin.

Auburn football had plenty of shining stars from the dominant victory, including Bo Nix who passed for 276 yards, and Tank Bigsby who rushed for 140 yards on 23 carries. But the obvious winners from the game were the Tigers’ defense, who stopped the Rebs four times in the end zone, resulting in zero points for the opponent.

It seems that something about playing at night in JHS made Lane Kiffin forget what a field goal was. SEC Shorts clued everyone in on what Kiffin was really thinking on every fourth down during that game:

Tiger fans agreed that there had to be something like this going on in Kiffin’s mind for him to leave so many points on the field in such a big game:

Auburn football’s defense combined for 71 total tackles versus Ole Miss, including 55 solo tackles, three sacks, and seven tackles for loss. Linebacker Zakoby McClain led the way with 14 tackles and two sacks, followed by Zion Puckett and Smoke Monday with nine tackles.

The defense will have to play just as big a role in next week’s matchup versus the #13 Texas A&M Aggies, who are also playing for a trip to Atlanta at the end of the season.
