Auburn football has had quite a roller coaster of a season under first-year head coach Bryan Harsin, but it’s not over yet. The Tigers still have three games left on their regular-season schedule, but could they still play for an SEC championship come December?

Yes. It’s possible that Auburn football wins the SEC West and goes to Atlanta to take on Kirby Smart’s #1 Georgia Bulldogs, but the Tigers are no longer in complete control of their destiny after losing to #13 Texas A&M. Auburn currently sits at third place in the SEC West behind the Aggies and the Alabama Crimson Tide, but the crown is still up for grabs with no undefeated teams left.

Two things have to happen for Auburn football to win out the west. The Tigers have to win their last three games against Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Iron Bowl opponent Alabama, but Texas A&M will also have to lose at least one of their last two SEC matchups.

Both of TAMU’s remaining SEC matchups are road games versus teams that have the potential to upset the #2 team in the West. This weekend, the #10 Aggies will face the #11 Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford, and while Matt Corral is certainly an advantage for the Rebs, the TAMU defense is no joke.

The Aggies have a cupcake against Prairie View A&M the following week, but their final regular-season matchup takes them to LSU’s Death Valley. The Bayou Bengals may be ranked last in the SEC West, but they’ve managed to beat Kentucky and Florida and give the Tide a run for their money, so don’t count them out, either.

Though a Georgia-Auburn football rematch in December is kind of a long shot, it’s definitely possible that the stars align and the Tigers win the SEC West.
