Although it seemed for a few days as though Auburn football’s three-year starting quarterback Bo Nix was destined to enter the NCAA transfer portal, rumors have died and fans once again believe that Bo will be back. However, it’s possible that first-year head coach Bryan Harsin could be searching for another QB to add to the roster, should things change.

One possible target that the Tigers’ coaching staff could be looking into was committed to the Oregon Ducks until the recent news that Mario Cristobal would be leaving the program. With Cristobal and Ducks offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead out in Eugene, 4-star quarterback and Alabama native Tanner Bailey is back on the market.

The #12 recruit out of the state of Alabama and the #16 quarterback in the recruiting class of 2022, Bailey had a visit from former Auburn football OC Mike Bobo back in October, but had no comment, per Tuscaloosa News.

However, the visit from Bobo isn’t Bailey’s only link to Auburn football. His father, Lance Bailey, played quarterback for the Tigers in the late 1980s, and it’s possible the Alabama native could be interested in staying home for college ball now that the future at Oregon is uncertain.

AL.com reports that Bailey has not yet made any indications as to which schools he might be considering, but he is still hopeful that he can commit on December 15:

"“Honestly, it is just a wait and see game right now,” he said. “I’m open to everyone. I’ve just got to let it play out. I don’t have any answers right now. In the next few days as schools start contacting me, maybe I can get more of an idea where it might lead. Right now, I don’t know too much.”"

It’s likely that Bailey would not come to the Plains should Bo Nix remain for his senior year, but it’s possible that his Auburn legacy could have him interested in the Tigers.
