If there is one position group within the Auburn football team that could use extra talent, depth, and experience, it’s surely the wide receivers. Newly-hired wideouts coach Ike Hilliard has been making a strong recruiting push in both the transfer portal and in recruiting the class of 2023, but there is still work to be done.

There has already been one wide receiver transfer that elected to join Auburn football for the 2022 season. Former Miami wide receiver and Alabama native Dazalin Worsham announced he would be transferring to Auburn early last month.

This weekend, the Tigers will host an SEC transfer for a visit to the Plains. According to Auburn Live, former LSU wide receiver Koy Moore will be on campus checking out the team this Friday through Sunday.

Moore has been in the NCAA transfer portal since October and was the first player from LSU to announce his departure from the team following the firing of head coach Ed Orgeron. Moore had an impressive freshman season with the Bayou Bengals in 2020, pulling in 22 catches for 177 yards in 10 games.

However, the wide receiver suffered an injury prior to fall camp ahead of the 2021 season and was limited to only six games. He recorded five receptions for 71 yards in those six matchups.

Auburn Undercover reports that Koy Moore has been on Auburn football’s radar since he first entered the transfer portal, and after some time the Tigers’ recruitment of the wide receiver is now ramping up.

Adding Moore’s SEC experience to the Tigers’ roster would be key after most of their productive receivers parted ways with the team after Bryan Harsin’s first season. As the Tigers are looking to turn things around, having the leadership and the knowledge that Moore does as an SEC athlete would be invaluable heading into Harsin’s second year on the Plains.
