As we know by now, this Auburn football coaching staff does not shy away from working to flip talented prospects that have already committed to other schools. The staff is pushing hard on a number of potential flips, some more likely than others to actually happen.

When it comes to 4-star linebacker Kaveion Keys, he is very upfront about the fact that his imminent commitment is about securing a place in the class, and he plans to continue to listen to other programs, including Auburn football.

Keys is ranked as the #319 overall prospect and the #25 linebacker in the recruiting class of 2023 as well as the #5 recruit out of the state of Virginia. Keys was originally supposed to commit on August 27, his birthday, to Penn State, North Carolina, or Virginia, all three of which he visited.

However, late offers from both Texas A&M and Auburn threw a curveball in his decision-making, per 247 Sports, and he pushed the date back to August 29, when he committed to UNC. Despite his pledge to the Tar Heels, the Tigers’ offer from LB coach Christian Robinson and director of recruiting Darren Uscher has certainly piqued Keys’ interest, per Auburn Live:

"“After I make a commitment (Monday), things could change,” Keys said. “That’s why I want to take this official visit to Auburn. I want to see what Auburn is about. If I like it, I might de-commit.”"

The linebacker does not yet have a date nailed down but plans to visit for either the Penn State game on September 17 or the LSU game on October 1.

With his openness to hearing recruiting pitches from other programs, it’s very possible that the gameday experience at Jordan-Hare causes Keys to think twice about his UNC pledge. Christian Robinson and Darren Uscher will have until at least December to change the LB’s mind.
