Auburn football still a “big factor” in Air Noland’s recruitment
Although the Auburn football team started out the offseason with five quarterbacks on scholarship and competing for the starting job in the 2022 season, heading into week 4 the Tigers are down to just two quarterback options.
With Zach Calzada choosing to undergo a second surgery and applying for a medical redshirt along with TJ Finley’s shoulder injury that will keep him out for an unknown amount of time, the weight of running the offense will land squarely on the shoulders of Robby Ashford and likely true freshman Holden Geriner.
It seems when it comes to Auburn football, you can never have enough quarterbacks on the roster, so it’s no surprise that despite taking the commitment of 4-star Adrian Posse during Big Cat Weekend, the Tigers are still pursuing 4-star Air Noland.
The quarterback was on the Plains over the weekend as the Tigers took on Penn State, and although Auburn lost the game in embarrassing fashion, Noland was still impressed by the overall atmosphere and how much love the fans had for the team.
According to Auburn Live, Noland believes the Tigers could be successful if they make some small adjustments, and he says that Auburn is still recruiting him very hard:
"“They’re a big factor,” Noland said. “They’re recruiting me and talking to me on a daily basis.”"
Noland got the opportunity to speak with the coaching staff before the game, and the coaches commended him for a great performance so far during his junior season. Noland plans to return to Auburn for another game this season, and said he will drop his top ten programs list very soon. He hopes to be committed by his senior season.
Air Noland would be a major pickup for Bryan Harsin and his staff, not only because of his talent, but also because of his Langston-Hughes connections and teammates. Should Noland commit to Auburn, there’s no doubt that at least some of his teammates would take a second look at the program.
