In 2022, the Auburn football program was struggling mightily when it came to recruiting. The class was lacking, there was no faith in the head coach, and things were not looking great. The hard work of the Tigers’ interim staff laid the groundwork and held things over until Hugh Freeze was hired in December and got to work.

The biggest win of the 2023 class, made up of the kids who are currently true freshmen on Auburn’s campus right now, is arguably the flip of defensive end Keldric Faulk from Florida State. Faulk was high on Auburn football throughout his recruitment, but was not sold on the Harsin staff and committed to the Seminoles.

However, on Early National Signing Day, Faulk flipped his commitment and signed with the Tigers, the first glimpse at the light at the end of the tunnel for fans.

By spring practice, it became very clear why Faulk was such a priority for Freeze, who said himself that the defensive end would likely have to play early for the Tigers. He began his time on the Plains working at the JACK linebacker position, but has been running with the ones at defensive end throughout fall camp.

Now, 247 Sports has named Faulk a Preseason Freshman All-American, increasing his hype ahead of his first season. The full list is as follows:
