Any concerns about Alex Golesh's ability to recruit may have just been calmed.

In a stunner, four-star running back Myson Johnson-Cook committed to Auburn on Saturday, choosing the Tigers over Miami. The Hurricanes had been trending, but Auburn was relentless in its pursuit of the blue-chip playmaker from East St. Louis, Illinois.

Alex Golesh promised that Auburn wouldn't take a back seat to anyone in recruiting and Johnson-Cook's surprising commitment to the Tigers is proof of that. Miami had been the favorite for the elite running back, but Auburn continued to push and refused to let the Hurricanes bully them out of this recruitment.

Auburn levels up in recruiting with pledge from 4-star RB Myson Johnson-Cook

This is the first real feather in Golesh's cap from a recruiting standpoint. i think most fans are solid on Golesh in many respects, but recruiting was still a bit of a question mark. While at South Florida, he was able to rely on the portal to grab kids that were dropping down from the P4 level, but Golesh is going to have to prove he can bring top high school talent to Auburn.

Johnson-Cook was on Auburn's campus this past week, and it's assumed this is where Golesh and staff made a great final impression on a player that should send a message to the rest of college football that the Tigers are playing for keeps on the trail this year.

Myson Johnson-Cook's commitment is big...real big

It's a big commitment from a big player that fits a long history of what Auburn running backs should look like. Johnson-Cook is built like a grown man at 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds. You can see his power/speed combination and take your pick of which former Tigers running back Johnson-Cook reminds you of. Whether it's Stephen Davis or Rudi Johnson with more height or maybe a slightly thicker version of Ronnie Brown, you're right in your assessment of Johnson-Cook's potential.

Johnson-Cook is the third commit in Auburn's 2027 class and the highest-rated by far. He joins four-star defensive tackle Donivan Moore and four-star tight end George Lamons Jr., who committed to the Tigers last week.

The momentum is starting to churn in Auburn's direction and everyone is watching to see who wants to be the next future star on the Plains.
