Auburn football adds the #1 wide receiver from the transfer portal
The Auburn football program got big news on Monday morning with the commitment of the #1 wide receiver in the transfer portal, Eric Singleton Jr. The news was announced via social media, and he chose the Tigers over Ole Miss, Miami, LSU and Texas. Singleton is ranked as the #1 wide receiver and #3 overall player in the portal.
From Douglasville, Georgia, Singleton was a 3-star wide receiver out of high school and signed with Georgia Tech in their recruiting class of 2023. As a true freshman, he was an instant impact player, recording 48 catches for 714 yards and six touchdowns and earning All-American honors. He led the team in receptions as a sophomore in 2024 with 56 receptions for 754 yards and three touchdowns.
Singleton is the cousin of former Auburn football wide receiver Darvin Adams and will arrive on the Plains with two years of eligibility. The wide receiver visited Auburn multiple times, taking his official visit shortly after the portal opened on December 11, and returning on December 19 for an unofficial visit.
With KeAndre Lambert-Smith out of eligibility, Singleton will help to fill a gap in the Tigers' already loaded wide receiver room. He is the second wide receiver commit from the transfer portal after former Wake Forest wide receiver Horatio Fields committed last week. The pair will complement the Freeze Four—Bryce Cain, Malcolm Simmons, Cam Coleman, and Perry Thompson— along with fellow returning receiver Sam Jackson V.
Robert Lewis will also be out of eligibility, and Camden Brown and Caleb Burton both hit the transfer portal, which means head coach Hugh Freeze and wide receivers coach Marcus Davis will likely look for one more receiver from the portal.
Singleton is the most highly-ranked player in Auburn football's transfer class, which is currently ranked #4 overall.
