Another of the Auburn Tigers has announced his intentions to hit the transfer portal. Buck linebacker Jamonta Waller announced plans to part ways with the program on Friday.

From Picayune, Mississippi, Waller signed with the Tigers in the recruiting class of 2024. He was a 4-star recruit out of high school and was ranked as the No. 95 overall player and the No. 8 edge in the class of 2024. He was the No. 2 recruit out of his home state. He was originally committed to the Florida Gators but flipped to Auburn ahead of the early signing period.

As a true freshman, Waller saw game action in Auburn's first contest and recorded one tackle. After appearing in only two games, he suffered a season-ending foot injury that caused him to miss part of the 2025 spring practices. He did not see game action in 2025.

Waller's departure, coupled with Keyron Crawford's and Chris Murray's exhausted eligibility, leaves only sophomore Joe Phillips and freshman JJ Faulk at the buck linebacker position.

Waller is the sixteenth Auburn football player to announce his intentions to enter the transfer portal, which will be open only from Jan. 2 to Jan. 16. Unlike previous years, there will be no spring portal window, and graduate transfers must adhere to the January window. In addition, if a school hires a new coach, players must wait for the January window unless the coach was hired after Jan. 2, in which case a 15-day window opens five days after the hire.
