In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, Bruce Pearl talks about coping with an eventual loss, and a 5-star wide receiver comments on his visit to the Plains
Halfway through the 2024-25 season, there is no doubt that Auburn basketball is the best team in the nation with the best resume in the leadup to the NCAA tournament. After surviving a tough defensive battle against the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers this weekend in Neville Arena, the Tigers remain unbeaten in conference play with an 18-1 record.
However, head coach Bruce Pearl knows that another loss is coming for his team at some point. The Tigers have toughed it out and won multiple close games in the past few weeks, and while he recognizes the outstanding job of his team, Pearl is also preparing his players for how to bounce back from a loss.
"I think the big key is you just can't get too high or too low," Pearl said, per Auburn Undercover. "I talked to the team a lot tonight about how we would have felt if we lost. We have not felt the pain of losing in a while, right? When was the lost time we lost? Duke? … We're obviously not gonna like what that tastes like, but it's gonna happen, and it obviously almost happened tonight. So we've got to get better."
The Tigers will return to action this Wednesday against LSU in Baton Rouge.
5-star wide receiver comments on his visit to the Plains
The Auburn football program hosted a Junior Day recruiting event this weekend, and highly-ranked prospects from all over the country descended on the Plains to check out what the Tigers have to offer.
One of the attendees was 5-star wide receiver Tristen Keys, who is ranked as the No. 2 WR in the recruiting class of 2026 and the No. 1 recruit out of the state of Mississippi. Though it is early in the 2026 recruiting cycle, Keys says that the Tigers sit high on his list and he plans to return for an official visit.
"In my recruitment, Auburn is pretty high on my board," Keys said, per Auburn Rivals. "I like Auburn. You know, I always did. I came last year. I enjoyed it. So this was just seeing the full thing, seeing all the little things. So I got to see the little things, and I enjoyed seeing the little things. So, yeah, they’re one of my top schools."
