In two weeks, the Auburn Tigers will hit the road to Norman, Oklahoma, for the first time in program history. After hosting the Sooners in Jordan-Hare Stadium last year and losing the game in the final minutes, the Tigers will play at Owen Field before trading Oklahoma for Texas on next season's schedule.
Earlier today, it was announced that the kickoff for the Tigers and Sooners will happen at 2:30 p.m., an afternoon game that was labeled with 'flex' during the preseason. It will be broadcast on ABC.
After Auburn's big 42-3 win over Ball State, the Tigers became ranked by the AP Poll for the first time since 2021, landing at spot No. 24. Oklahoma is ranked No. 13 after coming off a big win over Michigan, setting the teams up for a ranked showdown. The last time the Tigers played in a ranked game was against No. 13 Texas A&M in 2021.
Another big storyline to follow revolves around Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold, who transferred from Oklahoma during the offseason. It will be Arnold's return to Norman, where he had a tough 2024 season, and the entire Sooner offense dealt with a plethora of injuries.
"It'll be a fun game," Arnold said during an appearance on 'SEC This Morning' ahead of Auburn's turn at SEC Media Days in Atlanta in July, per Sooners Illustrated. "Extremely excited for that one and, you know, no animosity whatsoever. I just think it's going to be a fun environment to go and play. I really enjoyed playing in that stadium."
The Tigers and the Sooners have previously met three times, once in 1972 and in the Sugar Bowl in 2016 in addition to last year's Jordan-Hare Stadium matchup. Auburn has lost all three games.
