Hugh Freeze had two consecutive top 10 recruiting cycles and it finally showed Friday night in Waco.
Freeze had added some elite talent to his offensive line that worked well in sync when protecting QB Jackson Arnold. While they didn't get many passes as originally expected, they still managed to earn Auburn a 38-24 win against Baylor.
The win also earned a glowing review from their head coach Hugh Freeze.
“One of the better performances in a long time," Freeze said in his Monday press conference.
"I thought our offensive line played extremely well. We got one pressure that we didn’t set it the right way from the quarterback position, which really falls on our offensive staff. It was the first time they brought field smash and got us there. Outside of that, I thought our offensive line played about as well as we have."
The Tigers scored 307 rushing yards, 137 of which were QB Arnold's, with four touchdowns, two from Arnold and one each from Jeremiah Cobb and Damari Alston.
And about Arnold, Freeze believed he did what he had to in order to win, and will continue to do so in their following games.
"That's always been my philosophy of offensive football," he said. "What is it for this game that's going to help us win the football game? If that's needed and that's what the game calls for, I think he's very capable and willing to do that."
We'll see whether the Tigers' offense and their QB can continue their winning streak in Week 2 against the Ball State.
