Auburn football going after multiple USC flip targets
The Auburn football coaching staff have their eyes on several 2024 prospects currently committed to the Trojans
Many high school football prospects across America aim to have their official college decisions made ahead of their senior season so they can focus on playing football. Though they won't sign with a program until December or February 2025, many prefer to be largely finished with their recruitment ahead of time, meaning recruitment heats up in the summertime.
The Auburn football coaching staff is going after multiple prospects this summer who have already committed to the University of Southern California, including 5-star quarterback Julian Lewis, 3-star running back Daune Morris, and 4-star edge Isaiah Gibson.
Lewis has been committed to the Trojans since August of 2023, but has been keeping one ear open for Auburn football. The QB has been to the Plains several times and will return for an official visit next month. Since Georgia decided to go with 4-star QB Ryan Montgomery, Rivals national recruiting analyst John Garcia believes the Tigers are moving in as the biggest threat to flip Lewis:
"Rivals sources continue to lean toward a quiet confidence relative to Lewis' chances to end up at AU, so there should be plenty of eyes on his official visit to get his closest look at the program come June 14. It's also the weekend after the USC official visit, and we know Lewis wants to be done with the process before the football season begins."
Also slated to visit the Plains on June 14 is running back Daune Morris, and it will be his second trip to check out the program this year. He has built strong relationships with Auburn co-defensive coordinator Charles Kelly and offensive coordinator/running backs coach Derrick Nix. So far, Morris' only other scheduled official visit is to USC.
Right before Lewis and Morris visit Auburn football will host 4-star edge Isaiah Gibson, who committed to the Trojans earlier this year in March. Despite his commitment, he has kept his options open and set a handful of official visits in June, including his trip to the Plains. As the #1 edge in the country, he is being pursued by multiple big programs like Georgia, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, but Auburn football isn't going anywhere.
