Linebacker Eugene Asante explains his 'Let's work!' motto

When Eugene Asante first arrived on the Plains his role with Auburn football was limited to the scout team. Now, in his third year with the Tigers, Asante is last season's leading tackler and was named pre-season All SEC.

Last season Asante brought his motto to the the team, 'let's work!' and it became a rallying cry for Asanta, the defense, and ultimately the whole team. At 2024 SEC Media Days, the linebacker explained the meaning behind the saying.

“Being an undersized linebacker people try to put stipulations on you or try to put narratives on you,” Asante said, per Auburn Athletics. “I feel like “Let's work" embodies everything I believe in. Relentless effort. If you believe I'm undersized, that's fine, but I'm going to show you the way I work, the way I play the game of football, and the way my passion and the love I have for this sport.”

Asante and the rest of the Auburn football team will get back to work next month with fall camp before the season begins on August 31 in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
