In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, Eric Winters commits to Auburn football and the Auburn baseball team adds two transfers to its roster
It was a major recruiting weekend for the Auburn football program with over 10 official visitors on the Plains to check things out. 4-star safety Eric Winters was one of those visitors, and after his weekend with the Tigers, he committed to the program.
From Enterprise, Alabama, Winters is ranked as the #7 safety in the recruiting class of 2025 and the #5 prospect out of the state. Georgia and Miami were the other schools pushing for Winters, but the family feeling and the resume of Charles Kelly made Auburn football stand above the rest for the safety.
With the addition of Winters, the Tigers have locked in four of the top 10 players in the state of Alabama and pushed Auburn's class to #6 nationally.
Auburn baseball adds two transfers
Meanwhile, the Auburn baseball coaching staff stayed busy this weekend in the transfer portal. Friday the Tigers added two new members to their roster in brothers Sam and Andrew Dutton, natives of Southside, Alabama who played high school at Westbrook Christian.
Pitcher Sam Dutton previously played for LSU where he started 15 games and made 57 appearances in his three-year career in Baton Rouge. He recorded 29 strikeouts and only six walks in 27.2 innings pitched last season. He is the highest-profile addition of the five players joining the Tigers' roster from the transfer portal in this offseason.
He will be joined on the Plains by his older brother, Andrew Dutton, who is transferring in from Birmingham-Southern for his fifth year. He started 49 games as an infielder and knocked in seven home runs and 42 RBIs, leading the Panthers with a .340 batting average.
